Fun things to do in a wedding dress….besides marriage

Keeping with my wedding theme this week, I have to admit I have Trash the dress on my mind. 
Shouldn’t it be babies on the brain though?
After all my 30’s are creeping up and I am a married woman and now a home owner.
What comes next?!
We already have a cat!
I will do anything  to prolong the conversation of ” when are you going to have kids?”
So much so, that I am willing to put on my wedding dress again and take photos in it.
Maybe that would at least earn me a few extra months to drag this newly wed thing out.

Never short on flavor

Even though it is a chilly 40 degrees here in Seattle and it snowed last night, I am trying to stay warm by thinking summer thoughts.
What is my quintessential summer time dessert?
Strawberry short cake of course!
Well, that or a cold Rainier beer.
Marrying my love of desserts and weddings together, I present to you the wedding shortcake parade!

Wedding favors can be so useless and tacky these days.
 Do we really need m&ms with your names printed on them, or a candle shaped like a Hershey kiss?
I would much rather have a delicious treat to take home!
Consider combining your dessert & your favors together.
This is a great way to add some personal touches and use a family recipe or to cut costs on favors that go to waste.
The guests loved it! At least, that’s what they told me.
None the less, all the cookies were eaten and or boxed for favors to take home.
A success in my book!



Ooooh that smell. Can you smell that Smell?

Isn’t it weird how some scents take you back to a place in time?
Upon smelling them you are immediately there in the moment, if only for a split second, you have a flash of a memory that correlates with that smell.
You remember exactly where you were when you smelled it before.
It’s almost the feeling of Déjà vu.
No, not the strip club.
That is a different feeling…( and scent I’m sure.)
Every time it happens, it amazes me how many different moments in my life flood back to me.
Here are the ones that always seem to take me back:

Takes me to: The summer between sophomore and junior year in High school. Drill camp and rooming with Courtney. Driving the El Camino in Kennydale and Stephanie Helvy.

Just Relax

Well, I am off to Vegas tomorrow!
It is a much needed vacay and I hope to get some rest and relaxation in between the crazy Vegas lights.
 Till then, these pictures will have to do!

Girls Day… the parts I remember.

This weekend in between running to H&R Block to get our taxes reevaluated and doing chores around the house, I squeezed in a little girl time.
My friend Angela has a Girl’s day every so often and this was my first time attending.
It consisted of about 10 of us showing up bright and early in our pj’s baring food and our favorite movies.
 Then we sat around and ate… and watched the movies… and ate some more.
We started the morning off with Mimosas and German pancakes topped with blue berries and powdered sugar.
 Just the way i like them.
Followed by my zucchini , ricotta cornbread frittata. ( It’s a tongue twister)
Along with Some fresh fruit salad .
Then we popped in Harry and the Hendersons!
 Yes the 1987 movie about a family that hits big foot with their car and brings him home to live with them.
Then it was lunch time, we put in Horton Hears a Who and brought out the hummus & crackers, chips & salsa, tortellini salad, cheese & salami and spinach dip bread bowl.
 It was a feast to be had by all.
Oh and I can’t forget the sinful brownie stuffed chocolate chip cookies Angela made!
 I ate half but felt wholly guilty.
Then we broke for some showers and dinner and reconvened for dance party 2000…. in Auburn.
Look at how much fun we are having!!!
Wait….. that’s not us.
I have been a recluse recently,and by recently ,I mean the last 2 years.
 So I decided it was time to party and let loose.
Four double vodka sodas later and a kamikaze I had a sprained wrist and  had made some drunk phone calls. Perhaps I would be embarrassed if i remembered any of it.
But I don’t really.
