I love these fabulous and cheery dresses!
They look like something made from an old McCalls Pattern.
Great for spring or summer!

One scoop peach sherbet please.

January 11, 2012

In love with this Lazaro dress.
It keeps showing up on “Say yes to the dress”
It is the first gown I have drooled over since laying eyes upon my own dress choice.
For my next wedding, I am totally wearing this.
It comes in white too but the peach is so much sweeter

The belt is so incredibly vintage and sweet

Dumps like a truck. Truck. Truck.

January 10, 2012

During all our demolition this weekend on the upstairs, the truck filled up fast with wood scraps to go to the dump.
To save time, my friend Mandy and I were voluntold to do a dump run while the boys continued to tear down walls in the house.
Fair enough.
I haven’t been to the dump in years.
I remember going when I was really young with my dad.
I have never really had any reason to go to the dump as an adult though.
If I have items that don’t fit in the trash can at home, i just leave them on the side of the road.
So, we were both a little nervous because this was uncharted territory.
At least I knew where the dump was though, I should get credit for that.
Once inside, we backed the truck in and got out to start unloading.
Steve had secured the load with tie downs.
I always have issues with these.
He knows this.
So when we left, he said, ” I made it easy to get them off, just tug the end and it will undo the bow”
Standing at the dump, outside in the cold surrounded by grizzly manly men dutifully unloading their trucks and trailers, I pull the bow.
It comes undone, but I still have to unlatch the tie downs!
Plan ” make it easy” failed.
So Mandy and I are on either side of the truck trying to get the tie downs unlatched and not making any progress.
I felt like a dumb *ss girl.
I hate when I can’t do stuff!
As I am standing there fiddling around with the strap, one of the handsome young men from the dumpster next to me asked if we needed help.
I decided to just give in at this point and surrender to being a chick. ” Yes, can you help us unlatch these please?!?” (giggle, smile, wink)
” Sure!” He says and comes right over.
As we are standing there watching him untie our load, he starts up a conversation.
Clearly I have lost my game because I could have totally taken advantage of this poor guy.
I am willing to bet he would have unloaded all the wood out of the truck if i had played my cards right.

Instead, I dropped the ” H” word.

He asked what we were working on and details about the project.
Hypnotized by my beauty, I am sure.
I told him what was up and then he asked if we were
” Doing it all yourselves?!”
To which I naively replied ” No, my husband is.”
This is when his smile melted off his face, he gave me the stink eye and after undoing tie down number 4, he dropped it like a hot potato and said ” Oh, cool.” and walked away.
Leaving me to do a man’s job of unloading .22 tons of lumber.
I wonder if I had told him I was 3 month pregnant he would have reacted differently? Probably not…

The Price is WRONG B*tch!

January 5, 2012

First things first.
There is a Bun in the oven.
(or in my case, a pie)
We needed to get some furniture to store it in when it comes out.
Of course everything I loved online was more expensive than the king size mattress I want for my own bed.
So, I jumped on Craigslist.
I have gotten most of my furniture off Craigslist and it is always an incredible deal.
Case in point;
My new nursery set!
I was able to score this cute white Pottery Barn arrangement for a mere $300.00.
It retails at over $1100.00!
It is like brand new too.
Some of the items still have tags on them.
Convertible 4 way Crib  & End Table

Changing Table with Storage Bins and Boxes
Baby Bentley!
Deal?
You bet.
And it works for any theme and any gender!
This was a Craigslist Win.

Happy New year!

January 4, 2012

This year I didn’t get to participate in the drunken debauchery.
I was the DD.
Ya know, it is really annoying being the only sober person in a group of drunky mcdrunkersons.
You truly realize how ridiculous people are.
But, it gives you something to laugh about so don’t fall asleep on the couch.
At least I got a couple good photos though!

Happy 2012 everyone!!

Decorating by design

January 3, 2012

I realized that I never posted any photos of my  Christmas decorating this year!
All year long I look forward to dragging our decor out.
This time around though,  I really let the glory of it all fall between the cracks!
I was especially excited to decorate since this is our first Christmas in the new house.
I guess I just had a lot of other things on my mind.
We discovered two things;
We really need to get a fireplace
&
Once you trim the tree trunk, you loose 3 feet.
My faux mantle
 ( that’s Bentley’s sock in the middle)

my vintage nativity guys

the shrinking tree

cutest topper ever!

I took some photos of the outside with the lights but the pictures really did not do justice.
It looked so much more magical in person.

We packed everything up this weekend and put it all away for next year.
The living room feels so empty now!

Christmas memories

January 1, 2012

I can’t believe how fast all of the bloggers I follow got their photos and tales of Christmas Day up and posted!
I feel like I haven’t had a spare moment to even look through the photos I have.
OH, wait. I don’t have any.
I took my camera with me when we left the house to head down to ” The Lodge” for a few nights and  later discovered, I didn’t have the card in it!
So, you will have to grin and bare it while you view the photos taken by my mother & mother in law. Every photo my mom takes with her little camera, I end up hating.
I don’t know if it is user error or if it is time for us to buy her a new camera.
Anyway, the weekend started off with the in laws.
We had Christmas Eve dinner and opened presents.
They still aren’t finished with the house entirely, so right now all the living is taking place in the “mother in law” area above their garage.
There is a living room, 2 bedrooms and small kitchen.
It works.
But, we really can not wait till next year!
They will be getting the biggest tree EVER and inviting everyone they know over for dinner.
Here are some shots from Christmas eve.
I got in the spirit early and put on my ugly cat Christmas PJs before dinner.
I just wanted to have some room to expand, ya know?!
I like pie.
Steve’s mom set up a scavenger hunt for us to find presents around the house!

The shadow box Steve made for his parents

Collecting all our stuff

The new hall table!
Bed Time!

Christmas morning, we got up and had breakfast and opened our stockings.
Which were hung on the living room  fireplace in the side of the house that isn’t finished yet.
It was cute.

Opening stockings
Then the hubs and I high tailed it to my parents house 1.5 hr away.
We actually made really good time and I didn’t get any nasty text messages from my sister telling me to hurry it up.
Once we arrived there, the presents began
Rose waiting for presents

My Sweet nutcracker from Steve

Steve’s motorcycle mask
New cookbooks

2 of my 3 robes I got!

Then breakfast

Then a nap
Then off to my Aunt’s 45 min away for dinner.

I made out pretty good this year!
I am willing to say I got almost everything I was hoping for.
Minus new bedding ( which I technically don’t need yet, so that’s no big deal)
and some Lululemon workout clothes.
(Which are overpriced, so I’m not surprised.)
Here is some of my loot!
Dior Show Black out Mascara

Steve Madden Merlo Boots

Fred Flare Pea Coat

Sephora Brush Set

Macy’s Leopard Robe ( I got 3 of these lol)

Along with books, a couple VS tops, a few hats, a scarf and ……

Skeleton leggings

Dinner time

Nona, Aunts,Mom, Sister & Cousin

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas this year.
This holiday was kinda special for us, as it will be the last Christmas we celebrate as a family of two.
Yep, that’s right.
( let’s see who actually read the entire post.)

The non blonde

December 22, 2011

Well, the blonde project has come to a close.
It was a good run.
Only took me an entire year to get close to the color and look that I had in mind.
I am not going to lie though, it never truely achieved the specific look that I was hoping for.
Here is me at my blondest
It took some serious convincing on my part to get my stylist to believe I wanted to go dark.
She has been working with me on this journey to be blonde and made sure that I knew
once I went dark, there was no going back to blonde any time soon.
But, in the end… it’s just hair.
I could cut it all off in a few months, who knows!
The hair appointment was quite a process.
So of course I snapped a few shots.
Here is me (with some roots) waiting to be transformed
To get the dye to stick, we had to paint on a filler first.
That filled the cuticles of the hair so that it could absorb color.
Here is what it looked like after we rinsed that out and dried it.

Then it was time to bring on the dye.
Me impatiently Waiting….
And the final product….
Ta dah!
What do you think?
 Blonde or Burnett?
